Product Details
These "tongue-shaped" brooches are a replica of the one found at the archaeological site from Birka, Sweden.
It is decorated in the Jelling style, with two interlaced snakes. Dated from the 9th century.
These brooches have a sturdy needle and could easily be worn on garments made from thick wool. There are a few other examples of flat tongue-shaped brooches. Some of them were used as part of the feminine outfit, to hold the straps of the dress, in the same way as the well-known turtle brooches. This model has a ring at the bottom that can be used to hang necklaces or other ornaments, such as an amulets or personal hygiene accessories.
Handmade of bronze.
Measures: 9 x 4.5 cm.

Price for a pair of brooches.

Important: these brooches are prototypes of a "second quality". The ring or hanger is not drilled and present some minor imperfections which do not affect their functionality.
