Replica of the helmet found at Bojná, Slovakia. Dated from the 9th - 10th century.
This helmet could be categorized as "spangenhelm" due to its construction. On this case, it presents two dome metal parts joined with one riveted "crest" or nerved band and another perimetral riveted metal band. The most characteristic on this helmet is the high number of rivets and the T-shaped nasal protection.
The aventail was hanged from the lower rim with a riveted "aventail holder", with a crenellated shape allowed to hang ring by ring the chainmail.
There are different similar finds to the helmet from Bojná, as the helmet found at Stromovka, Prague. A very similarly constructed helmet with also a characteristic T-shaped nasal.
Our helmet is made of 1.6 mm steel. It has also includes an adjustable inner liner made of leather and a leather chin strap with a buckle.
This helmet is made entirely by hand on two available sizes:
- M: circumference of 61-62 cm
- L: circumference of 63-65 cm
